Wanna Play 20 Questions?…Sort of…

So, in spirit of the holiday season, I like to get nostalgic, think about what I really want out of life, etc.  A few days ago, I stumbled across a list of thought-provoking questions that my friend posted on her facebook page.

I thought it would be cool to share them with all of you! Who knows, maybe you guys will find these questions as interesting as I do and use them as conversation starters at your next holiday gathering.

Also, I love reading the comments that you all post on my blog! For this specific post, if you would like to share your answers to one (or more) of these questions, please do so in the comments section.

Without further ado, the questions are:
1. If you could make a 30 second speech to the entire world, what would you say?
2. If you were going to die at midnight, what would you be doing at 11:45 p.m.?
3. How do you really KNOW anything for sure?
4. If you had all the money in the world but still had to have some kind of job, what would you choose to do?
5. When you’re 90 years old, what will matter most to you?
6. What do you regret most so far in life?
7. How can you apply the lesson you learned from that regret to your life TODAY?
8. What would you change if you were told with 100% certainty that God does not exist? Or, if you don’t believe in God, that he does exist?
9. If you lost everything tomorrow, whose arms would you run to? Does that person know how much they mean to you?
10. Do you fear death? If so do you have a good reason?
11. What would you change if you knew you were NEVER going to die?
12. If you were at heaven’s gate and God asked you, “why should I let you in?,” what would you say?
13. When will you be good enough for you? Is there some breaking point where you will accept everything about yourself?
14. Is the country you live in really the best fit for you?
15. What would people say about you at your funeral?
16. What small thing could you do to make someone’s day better?
17. If you believe in God, would your relationship with God change at all if you were told with 100% certainty that he was actually a she?
18. What do you believe stands between you and complete happiness?

  1. Absolutely amazing post! I wish there was a way to get all people to ask themselves these questions…mind if I start by reposting these on my own blog?

    A few choice answers:

    3. To believe is to know. Believe in something strongly enough, and truly live it, and it will become one’s reality.

    7. Our heads overthink things. Our hearts are easily swayed. Our gut instincts know where to take us.

    10. There are things in this world compared to which death would be paradise. Until I have experienced all of them, I will not fear death.

    11. I would change nothing immediately. But, I have eternity, and change is the one thing which will keep me from being bored.

    12. If you can’t tell me that, I haven’t earned my place here. See you in the next life.

    18. There is nothing standing in my way, but my unwillingness to feel it. To be truly happy, I would have to be completely satisfied with the way things are. And there is far too much work to do for me to be satisfied.

Hope you enjoyed! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!

  2. so much to think about here….great questions for deep thinkers like
Evan above…who can contemplate and gaze and ponder and then come up with answers…

these are great blog topics. Will repost; maybe my friends will appreciate the topics. thank u for sharing!

  3. I’m likely going to re-blog this in a few days, but in the mean time, I’ll answer some…

    2. Probably eating pizza with my husband.
    4. Some kind of event planning or the lead up to an event, making things, looking at the budget. Planning my wedding was kinda fun. Some kind of party hostess.
    5. What I’ve taught my family, most importantly my children — that they aren’t entitled or lazy, and that they remember that I was there for them more than what I may or may not buy them
    6. Spending too much time with some people that weren’t worth it, and not spending enough time with those who truly were.
    7. By being choosier about who is a part of my life and by visiting my family (or at least calling them) as much as I can.
    8. Nothing, because man would be the one to determine that certainty, and man is fallible. 🙂

    Some real thinkers, though, hmm…

  4. I pick No. 16 for my comment: What small thing could I do to make someone’s day better? I would remember to smile. Customer service goes both ways. A smiling salesperson has the same affect a smiling customer has. It affirms that there is mutual respect and gratitude.

  6. I’m coming back to this later to answer the questions if you don’t mind. Thanks for stopping by my blog and following!

  7. 1. I would just try to emphasize how we all have ideals and pains and vengeance is no answer, but working together to resolve problems peacefully along with trying to understand each other and emphasize with each other is a start.
    2. I would be with my family and friends, preferably it would be Autumn and we’d be sitting around a fire just talking.
    3. I know for sure how I think and feel about things, but even that can change.
    4. I would write, even if I had to use some of that money to publish myself. Maybe I’d start a publishing company or a literary agency.
    5. I would want to be lucid and I’d also hope I was physically able to go camping and hiking.
    6. I can’t think of any regrets because all roads led me here, good and bad. I guess maybe I wish I was less temperamental.
    7. I believe that anger hinders true resolve and just disperses more pain within, as well as it passes it on to other people.
    8. I don’t think I’d believe it and I’d hold on to my beliefs, if for no other reason but to have something to believe in. I’ve always relied on religion, and I’ve practiced many, to get through life and remain hopeful for positive outcomes.
    9. That’s a tough one because in ‘everything’ for me that would include the people I love, since they are more important than anything else. But if I lost everything in terms of life’s essentials, probably my parents, and yes they know.
    10. I only fear that death will come while I’m young. I don’t want to die until I pass age 90 at least.
    11. That would make me either a zombie or a vampire, I guess. I’d rather be a vampire and be able to hold onto intelligence. So if I was a vampire, I guess I’d change my sleeping habits.
    12. I’d say that I’ve been a good person and I’ve never intentionally harmed anyone or anything, and that I have compassion for people and all living things.
    13. I will be good enough when I talk more calmly about things I’m passionate about. I’m Sicilian so that’s a tough one.
    14. I always felt I’d be better suited in Europe. Either England, Scotland, or Italy.
    15. I hope they say they’ll miss me and that I was a good person.
    16. Well I bring my neighbor coffee every morning. I think that helps her. But I think smiling and being polite to strangers is something that makes a difference.
    17. No it wouldn’t change, I was actually Wiccan for ten years, now I’m Catholic, but I believe all religions believe in the same deity, with different names.
    18. Stress.

  10. You ask interesting questions and I appreciate your visit to my blog. Well, I have always lived Carpe Diem and so every day for me is my last. That sounds strange, perhaps, but I really value my time and I love my life. Today is a good day to die. My friends and family know they are loved. What more is there?

  11. Though I have seen set of questions, or similar ones, it still hits you smack in the face when you see it again. So busy many of us are doing things that just do not matter. Thank you for waking me up again. And thank for stopping by my blog.

  12. 17. If I got to Heaven and discovered that, as I have suspected all along, God is female, I would smile and say, “Thank you for being such a good example!” – Fawn

  13. I really love this game! You’re a genius!! I pick 3 questions:

    4. If you had all the money in the world but still had to have some kind of job, what would you choose to do?
Well I would still choose to become a nurse. 🙂 I’m in nursing school now and never would have thought I would love it as much as I do. I love helping people, even if I can’t do anything for them but I’m hoping that my empathy and compassion will at least makes them feel somewhat at ease while they’re having treatments.

    5. When you’re 90 years old, what will matter most to you?
I think what matters most to me will be that I’ve lived a fulfilled and meaningful life and that people will always remember me for my kindness.

    6. What do you regret most so far in life?
That I didn’t listen to my mom’s advice when I was younger. But it’s not too late to change now though. 🙂
